Cirque du Soleil Returns to Minsk
From September 28 to October 1, Cirque du Soleil, the most famous circus troupe in the world, will present its new show titled Varekai in Minsk. More than 10 million people have seen the show worldwide. Six performances will take place at Minsk Arena.
Varekai tells a story of a magic world of the same name where nothing is impossible. A young man falls into this world from the sky. Finding himself among the shadows of a mysterious forest, in a world of fantastic creatures, the protagonist dips into a stream of unexpected and exciting adventures. On the verge of time, in the world of no limits, an inspiring hymn sounds to the reconsideration of life and newfound miracles.
Bruno Darmagnac, artistic director for Varekai, says that Cirque du Soleil is happy to return to Minsk and present the show in the capital of Belarus. According to Darmagnac, Varekai is a story of love and hope, of the ability to find courage and be open to new experience. It is a mixture of stunning acrobatics, choreography, live music, and clownery.
The show is directed by Dominic Champagne, a famous Canadian playwright, screenwriter, and theater director. Champagne is a winner of numerous theater awards, including L'Association des Critiques de théâtre. Eiko Ishioka, an Academy Award winner, is a costume designer for the show.
