Sports Journalists from 25 Countries to Gather in Belarus

European Union of Sports Press (AIPS Europe) will host its congress and workshop for mass media in Minsk, BelarusFrom September 11 to September 13, 2015, the European Union of Sports Press (AIPS Europe) will hold its third congress in Minsk, Belarus. AIPS Europe offered Minsk as a host for the union’s congress. The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus supported the offer and the European Olympic Committees approved Minsk as a venue for the event. In addition, the NOC of Belarus, the European Olympic Committees, the Belarusian Sports Press Association (BSPA), and the Sports and Tourism Ministry of the Republic of Belarus organize a workshop for sports media to be conducted in the headquarters of NOC Belarus.

It is expected that representatives of Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and Ukraine will attend AIPS Europe congress and the NOC’s workshop. Gianni Merlo, President of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), Yannis Daras, President of the European Union of Sports Press, and Charles Camenzuli, AIPS Europe Secretary General, are among VIPs arriving to the event. The list of special guests also features Christian Hinterberger, President of the European Fair Play Movement, Igor Iuzefovici, Vice President of the European Taekwondo Union, and Leonz Eder, Vice President of the European University Sports Association.

The attendees will be able to visit the Minsk Arena and the National Olympic Centers in Ratomka and Raubichi, Minsk Region. The European journalists will have a possibility to cover the Race of Legends, a biathlon festival, and the Minsk International Marathon 2015 that will be organized at the same time as the congress. In addition, an awarding ceremony of Darya Domracheva will be conducted in Raubichi.

The workshop will include discussions dedicated to the rights of mass media in Europe, as well as presentations of the European Youth Olympic Festival 2019 and other sport events that Belarus is going to host in 2015 and 2016.
