Exhibition of Belarusian AvantGarde to Open in Minsk

From April 21 to April 23, 2014 the exhibition of contemporary art “Avant–gARTe. From the square to the object” will open in Minsk, Belarus. Supported by the Ministry of Culture ofthe Republic of Belarus, Minsk City Executive Committee, Museum of Modern Fine Art, and Center for Contemporary Arts, the exhibition will run through June 10, 2014.

An interactive project is aimed at telling the audience about new forms and current trends in modern art. Unifying artists, designers, and photographers from different regions of Belarus, the exposition will showcase paintings, graphics, sculptures, art objects, installations, video art, design, photographs, and the best art projects of the last decade.

  • One Hundred Years of the Belarusian Avant–garde. Venue: Museum of Modern Fine Art. Working hours: from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day except Saturday and Sunday. Opening: April 22, 2014.

A unique project gathers the Belarusian avant–garde, underground, and nonconformity works of art of the 20th century in one exposition. Based on various collections both private and public, the project features a great variety of arts of this period.

  • The Artist and the City. BelART.by. Venue: Yakuba Kolasa square, Minsk, Belarus. Opening: April 23, 2014.

The exposition is presented in an open air exhibit area.  The exhibition is dedicated to the Belarusian artists and will present paintings and drawings of local authors showcased in the Museum of Modern Fine Art.

In addition, the exhibition will be complemented by lectures, art and cultural studies, workshops, documentary films, theater performances, concerts, vanguard fashion shows and weekly meetings with Belarusian artists.
