Belarus Hosts Festival of Argentine Tango

Argentine Tango Festival 2015 in BelarusFrom March 12 to March 16, 2015, Minsk will host the 4th international festival of Argentine tango Minsk Spring Tango Festival 2015. Attracting lovers of Argentine tango from multiple countries, tango festivals are held around the world, creating a phenomenon of tango tourism.

The first Argentine Tango Festival in Minsk was held in March, 2012 and gathered more than 150 amateurs, including more than 50 guests from Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine. In 2013, the event received support from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and gathered more than 200 fans of Argentine tango from over 15 countries. In 2014, more than 350 dancers, teachers, and tango DJs from 17 countries visited the Minsk Tango Festival.

This year, the festival is waiting for almost 500 tango lovers from over 20 countries, including Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the USA. In addition, the event features best tango DJs from Italy, Holland, Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, as well as teachers of Argentine tango and chacarera from Russia and Ukraine, and Moscow Tango Orchestra Orquesta Pasional.

The program of the festival includes a concert, day and night milongas, and master classes. In addition, the Museum of Belarusian Cinema will show movies about tango.
