Street Theater Festival in Minsk

From May 6 to May 8, the Upper Town in Minsk will host Street Theater Festival, an international event held in Minsk annually since 2013. This year, the festival will feature guests from Berlin, Wroclaw, Saint Petersburg, Tiraspol, Vitebsk, and Zhlobin.

Street Theater Festival opens on May 6 with a play titled Robinson.ada by the Eye experimental theater. The play is based on the works of Dante Alighieri, Daniel Defoe, and Michel Tournier.

On Saturday, May 7, Minsk residents and guest will have a chance to participate in a traditional carnival procession. The second day of the festival will be continued by the Belarusian State Circus.

The program of the festival will focus on performances, which are already familiar to the audience, as well as new shows created especially for Street Theater Festival. Belarusian artists from Minsk, Vitebsk, and Zhlobin will perform at the event. Guest artists from Russia, Transnistria, Poland, and Germany are expected to attend the festival.

Overall, the viewers will be able to watch more than 20 various performances, including walking on stilts, interactive and dance performances, and clownery. The youth theater Wheel from Vitebsk will close the festival with a play titled Malevich. A Portrait in Two Dimensions.

On May 7 and May 8, in addition to the performances, the Mastatstva (Art) magazine will open a stand in the Upper Town and will hold a campaign, which gives visitors an opportunity to create an unusual new issue of the magazine by collecting collages of their favorite views of the city and articles from magazines.
